Hi, folks!
Being using KDE for ages I'm now missing something like application/window list from kde-3.x. It was mapped to Ctrl-F5 AFAIR, pressing this combination a small list appear (right under mouse pointer) containing all windows from all desktops separated by a spacer, so any window can be basely chosen and accessed directly. I just remapped it on my mouse mutton and was pretty happy. Is there is anything like this list in kde-4.x? |

Sure. In 4.4, and later you can configure that by what's called mouse-actions. You'll find it under the "Desktop settings" if you right click on the desktop.
You could, for example, set it to show the window list if you hold ctrl and use the right mousebutton. The windows could be listed like you describe, or with submenues per desktop. Note: if you use different activities you need to set this up per activity.

Thanks!
But there is one little thing. KDE recognizes event (one of mouse extra keys), but the event (something like "Window switch", it's in Russian) does not fire up. Have no clue why. |

Click the plasma toolbox. It should let you access the desktop settings.

So, do the default ones work? Like switch desktop for example?

I use the Window list plasmoid on the panel. It pops ups the list you describe when you click on it.

This will not be as comfortable, us mouse gesture, you should aim icon first -> move mouse, while using dedicated mouse button (I have 16 events, 4 of them are free now, other are used for navigation and usual stuff) is much faster. This solution is for "heavy buttoned" mice only. |

It can actually be done with only the keyboard.

Sorry, the only thing I can think of on top of my head is to move the .kde(4)/share/config/plasma* to somewhere safe (when plasma isn't running) to see if you can get it to work from a clean slate. All I can is that I know it works. I'm using ctrl-rightclick to bring the window-list up using the mouse-actions method. Now on 4.5, but worked on 4.4.4 too. Well, "works for me" that is.

OK, how make a global keyboard action to execute anything like desktop's "applauncher". It feels like internal command. Any way? Via dbus?
