Saved password in "run as root"

Mon Aug 23, 2010 12:57 pm
Hi

Recently when I was starting an application (YAST in Suse 11)from the application launcher I was given the "run as root" dialog to supply the root password. I didn't notice the "remember password" box was checked and now whenever I select the YAST option in the menu it goes straight into YAST without requesting the password. I don't want this to happen but can't work out how to remove the stored password.

Thanks

That option should only be for a limited time period, not forever - but don't remember how long

run "kdesu -s" which should stop the daemon and forget all passwords

If you want to never have the password saved create an alias
alias kdesu='kdesu -n'
where n=do not keep the password

OK, thanks!

When I tried to stop the daemon, I got
Code: Select all
fredmain:/home/fred # kdesu -s
kdesu(30513): Daemon not running -- nothing to stop

However, the password does seem to have been forgotten! So I don't know whether it "timed out", or the daemon was terminated. Either way, problem solved!
