tweaking plasma-netbook

Fri Aug 27, 2010 6:10 pm
i just started using the plasma-netbook mode, and so far, i'm liking it. just had a few questions, though.

1. how do i use tiling in plasma-netbook mode? i've already enabled tiling in system settings. but tiling doesn't seem to work; i.e., applications open fullscreen and only one application is shown at any given time.

2. is it possible to customize the appearance of the panel at the top, e.g., change its color?

thanks!

In order to change the appearance of the panel, you need to change the Plasma theme in use.

thanks, finally got it to work. for some reason, the theme wasn't getting changed. it seems the theme doesn't change when you hit 'apply'. it changes only when you close the system settings dialog.

another simple question: in the search and launch page, is it possible to configure the number of rows used by the main menu? i'd like to have all the menu items in one row (and i know they can all fit).

as for the first question, i've noticed that if i enable tiling, some windows get displayed as if they were being tiled, but they're not resized. e.g., the add widget dialog shows up on the right half of the screen (and the right half of the dialog gets cut off). disabling tiling fixes the issue.
