Hello!
With this setting[1], KDE always places the menu bar on VGA1 and considers VGA1 as Display 1, and the whole display turns ugly when using double monitors[2]. But I want to choose LVDS1 as the main monitor and where to place the menu bar. How can I get it? With the same setting, KDE SC 4.4 (Fedora 13) always uses LVDS1 as main monitor and works all like what I expect, so I was not bothered. Please tell us your graphics card, graphics driver, and if using a binary driver the driver version.

I don't know if the display settings can do that. But as a workaround, you can do

This command works! Thanks! I hope the Display setting can include this function. I have Intel 945GME and xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.12.0-6.fc14.i686 . |

Display Settings, at least on trunk, has a selector for the primary monitor.

I believe someone has committed a bunch of changes in trunk that relate to what you're seeing, compared to what's in branch.

Should that work the same way in KDE 4.3.5? It doesn't work for me. I am using Mandriva Linux 2010.0 with KDE 4.3.5 on a laptop computer. Video chip is Radeon Mobility 7500. Using the following xrandr command I can get the external monitor going simultaneously with the laptop LCD display.
The KDE taskbar remains on the laptop display (LVDS). I then run the following command:
which is supposed to cause the taskbar to move to VGA-0, however nothing happens, the KDE taskbar remains on the LVDS display. |
