I had my touchscreen (HP L2105tm) working perfectly with 10.04 and linux kernel 2.6.34. I upgraded to 10.10 Meeerkat though and know it's all screwed up. I can't tell what exactly is wrong, but I can tap several times in a row fine, but then it doesn't register the tap and I need to press down very hard on the screen to get it going.
I know this is a KDE problem because it occurs with both linux kernel 2.6.34 and 2.6.35. Thanks for the help. PS I've simply given up on figuring out how multitouch is supposed to work, despite the claim for 10.10 that it is supposed to work out of the box. |

Do you have GNOME or any window managers (FluxBox, IceWM etc.) installed? If not I would suggest you to install one and test if it works with the touchscreen. Or, if it happens often, see how well it works at the login screen.
It doesn't seem very likely that it's a KDE problem - as far as I know there is no code to handle touchscreens in KDE Workspaces.

Yes, I installed Gnome and still have the same problem. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with touchscreens, but it sounds related to Xorg (which probably was upgraded when you installed Meerkat).
I would suggest that you post a thread in the Ubuntu forums as well - it seems more likely that it will be answered there than here since it doesn't have to do with KDE Software.
