I think a reboot did it, since it is now available as a widget.

But now I don't see how to make it bigger (I told you, I am a noob ;D ); it's tiny now, as per the screenshot:

None of these run, I get a 'command not found'. Would you happen to know where these are supposed to be? Because locate also doesn't find them.

1. Make sure you drop it in an empty space (i.e. not over an existing widget). If you open the widget explorer from the panel toolbox (like in the link), you can also double click on a widget to add it to the panel.

2. The reason everything is moved to the left is because your panel is left aligned. If you use a spacer, you need to move a widget to the right of it. You can also resize the spacer (again, see Plasma HowTo) or set it to a flexible size (right click) to change how far to the right you want a widget.

But what you really want (I guess) is a task manager widget, since it will automatically take up the remaining space in the panel, pushing all widgets to the right of it to the right edge of the panel. Click on the panel toolbox -> Add Widgets... -> Drag Task Manager (or maybe Fancy Tasks) to the empty space to the right in your panel OR double click on the widget you want to add -> move widgets where you want them.

Is there an app with witch I can record a little clip of what's happening on my desktop, to make it clearer what is happening?

You can try recordMyDesktop.

Ahum :'(

I think it's now completely messed up. Now the task bar is gone as well, as is my K-start menu button:

I am going to shutdown this machine now because I have to go to work. Could it be that when I start it later on KDE will be completely useless?

Is there something I can do as root to restore a normal 'from the start' GUI and get out of this mess I created?

Thank you very much for your help :*

So you succeeded to add it to the panel? Great. I haven't used Fancy Tasks myself, but it probably depends on the height of your panel.

No idea how it works on FreeBSD. On my system the prefix for KDE libraries is /usr and the files can be found in /usr/bin.

Hm, seems like you removed your panel, or make Fancy Tasks simply covers it? Anyway, in 4.5 you can create a new default panel like this.
