After bug 242516 has been fixed (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=242516), I noticed that krunner now stretches across my screen without letting me resize it. Changing its location from free floating to top edge will not allow me to resize its width, only its height. Before trying to resize its width, I ran into the screen edge management that resized it to half of my screen accordingly. Turning off the edge management, I still cannot resize its width. When attempting to do so, I see the double horizontal arrows indicating that I could. However, the double arrow automatically turned into the four-pointed arrow (move krunner) when left-clicking.

Do you use the default window manager, KWin?
I tried to resize the width and got the same result as you (4.5.3), so it's likely a bug. However, I could resize it with Alt + Right click (don't know if this is the default setting, but you can set it up in System Settings -> Window Behavior -> Window Behavior -> Window Actions -> [Inner Window, Titlebar & Frame] Right button: Resize.

Yes it works, but I think I should still file a bug report since the resize icon that is displayed upon hovering along the edges of krunner does not work when holding the left mouse button. It simply defaults to the move icon and moves the krunner display instead. Your way of explicitly assigning the resize function to a mouse button + modifier key is a credible and perfectly good workaround but not a solution, which I think you implied. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for filing the report. My solution was only meant as a workaround which is slightly easier than modifying the krunnerrc file, but I would also like to see the resize->move bug to be fixed.
