Personal Settings Lost and Found?

Thu Nov 11, 2010 9:46 am
Hi all running openSUSE 11.3 and KDE 4.5.3 from the KDE 4.5 repo. Since I have upgraded KDE to KDE 4.5.3 from KDE 4.4.4 in KDE Personal Settings I have "Touchpad" and "GTK Styles and Fonts" items in a new group called "Lost and Found". However when I tried Fedora 14 which is also KDE 4.5 it doesn't have a group called "Lost and Found" and "Touchpad" is under "Input Devices". How can I get these items into where they are meant to be instead of Lost and Found?

Here is screenshot:

Thanks

This is because the modules have not been correctly updated for the System Settings Reorganisation. Their developers / your distributor needs to correct this.

this is strange as I too am running openSuse 11.3 with kde 4.5.3-316.1 but I don't have these modules in 'lost & found' but in their correct groups.

I don't know why it doesn't show in correct group for me then. I followed instructions:
Code: Select all
zypper ar -f http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Release:/45/openSUSE_11.3/ KDE45

Then switched packages to KDE45 repo in YaST. Did you do anything different?

actually I downgraded from 4.6 svn to 4.5.3 BUT I am using the Factory repo, not the 45 one http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... SUSE_11.3/

They are not the same: kdelibs4-core-4.5.3-316.1.x86_64.rpm vrs kdelibs4-core-4.5.3-8.2.x86_64.rpm

I was unaware there are now 4 kde4 repos (stable, 45, factory and unstable) - from what I can tell 45 is the stable/current 4.5 series (4.5.3) and factory is maybe a bit more of 4.5.4 (???)

from the openSuse website:

Upstream release (KDE SC 4.5)
KDE SC 4.5, in a relative predictable and safe repository. But naturally not as tested or polished as the officially supported Stable openSUSE KDE SC 4.4 packages.

Factory (KDE SC 4.5)
These repositories feature the KDE packages under development for the upcoming openSUSE release and includes openSUSE specific patches. You must add the core packages repository to use Extra or Unstable:Playground.

The main difference between 45 and factory is, as far as I've understood it, is that the 45 repo is built against Qt 4.6.3 while factory is build against Qt 4.7, plus that factory eventually will be switched over to KDE 4.6 - around the first beta or so I guess.
