Keyboard navigation in Konqueror

Fri Oct 24, 2008 6:03 am
Keyboard navigation within Konqueror (as filemanager) is providing me with a curious problem. If I just navigate down in a file list (multicolumn view) the items is not selected in the order they are displayed. This happens in all directions (if my list of files is long enough).

It plays nice for a few entries, and then just skips ahead a few to another entry. The only pattern I can see to this is the length of filenames. It seems to skip entries with filenames with a too big difference in length, to stick with filenames close to the length of the previous one.

Can anyone provide me with some clarification of what I'm doing wrong?

I've got 3.5.10, but I'm sure I have been getting this effect for years now.
I've got my 'Width for icon text" at 512 pixels, if that helps?

That explains something then. I was running 4.1.x at that time. I would say it is a long standing bug then, that was probably fixed either during or after the port to KDE 4. You could try searching for or filing a bug report, but I do not know if any developers will ever fix the issue as it is only present in 3.x now :-(
