I haven't seen any mention of this issue, anyone else seen it?
In previous versions of KDE, it seems, I could increase the size of a window and the window contents (text, icons, etc) would stay the same size during the process of resizing the window. Now (KDE 4.5.1) I resize a window and everything in the window has a 'stretched' look to it, until I release the mouse button. Then they return to normal sizes (though the window has been resized). This happens with any type of window for any application. I'm using Lucid 10.04. I don't think this occurs in 10.10. Has anyone else seen this? I'm surprised there hasn't been a fix out for it yet. -Chris |

System Settings -> (Workspace Appearance and Behavior ->) Desktop Effects -> All Effects -> uncheck "Resize Window" effect -> Apply.

Thank you so much, Hans. That worked.
I had no idea that was just a desktop effect. It makes me wonder why anyone would ever want that particular effect on! |

I have it turned on, even if I don't particularly like it myself. The other person that has access to the computer likes it though (and yes, I've been basically lazy in not setting up different accounts. Adding an extra account is easy and fast, making sure all data both of us may want to access is available to both accounts is also easy but time-consuming. Maybe over Christmas...). She claims the effect gives an additional visual feedback she needs. Well, either that or she just likes eye-candy more than I do...

Great, you're welcome. ![]() Since it's solved it would be helpful if you could mark the topic as such, see Marking topics as solved.
For some configurations resizing windows is very slow (the window content has to be repainted several times). This effect is useful for such situations. It is also possible to not show the content at all, but it doesn't look very good.
