Hi again
wonderfull my first trip through the kde beta version but... ![]() I went on with updates and now, after the last one, I get a big trouble. I cannot start anymore kde. After updating to the 4.5.85 version the desktop starts but I get contiunuous crashes with Krunner floating exception errors ( I mean 1 each 2 seconds). So it's clear theres' a big bug but I can't find anything browsing internet and forums.. Do you have heard about this issue ? Any suggestion? Tks in advance Dario

I've finally uninstalled the Nvidia 260.21 drivers which I was using
and the problem disappeared ![]() So tks to your suggestion .. This problem came from the driver. Now I'm back to the Nouveau drivers and system works better just I don't like so much this drivers... I can't see picture preview neither in dolphin nor in my browser ( eg: google images preview are not viewable). I don't know ! I'm going to wait for better Nvidia driver ![]() Anyway tks a lot to everybody for support. dario

you could try newer or older drivers by compiling them yourself or by searching the build service as some people provide rpms different then what are in the Nvidia repo

another solution might be to go 64bit as this issue appears to be 32bit only

I always think about it but I complain because last time (about 1 year ago) I tried it and I got many troubles with some software and above all with some dependencies? My system is a 64bit in fact and I could consider this solution ... do you think now the 64bit is working fine?
tks

re: 64bit - I've been running it pretty much since it became available and in the early days there were issues especially multimedia related but now none (at least for me). If it's available in 64bit I run it: Flash, Opera, VirtualBox, Chromium, FireFox, Hulu, VLC, Smplayer ............ Can't think of anything that 64bit causes me issues, but there's lots of stuff I don't run.
If you Google you'll see the advantages (speed in certain types of apps), disadvantages (modules bit larger) There's probably bunch of threads on various forums you can review to see how people feel remember ymmv |

Hi to everybody
just an update ![]() Before installing the opensuse 11.3 64bit version I've installed the last Nvidia driver vers. 260.19.29 to see whether they solve the problem or not. So I'm sorry to see that Nvidia didn't do it and I've got the same troubles I had with the previous version (260.19.21) ... Moreover I confirm that the last working version is the 256.53 one (tried it) Hope this will help some don't loose his time ![]() Regards and merry Christmas to you all Dario

Sorry but I didn't yet
I decided to try first this new nvidia driver version just to be sure for the future. But now that I'm sure about the last version working on 32 bit I'm going to install the 64bit version and see what happens... ![]() I'll let you know once finished Ciao

Hi, here I'm
![]() So, I'm now with my new shining Opensuse 11.3 64bit ( I like it) Glad to say that it works very well with Nvidia Driver 260.19.21 (not working on the 32bit one). I also installed KDE 4.6 beta2 vers. and, exempt for some minus problems, it works fine (till now of course). I got a trip around and of course I still have to try other stuffs but I 'm confident all will be well ![]()
