it seems i have got a huge problem here...

dolphin is very slow and sometimes it seems hangs or freezes
i have tried with


Settings --> Configure Dolphin --> General --> Uncheck "Show Tooltips" (near the bottom).


and i have tried disabling information panel but it seems it didn't work

workaround?

possibly (probably) a dbus issue, what version are you running? should be a 1.4.x, if not you should find and install one

In this case, it looks like your Nepomuk installation is having issues. Do you have the Virtuoso Soprano plugin installed?

i did this to reduce ram usage and before was soooo fine but dolphin needs nepomuk !?wth

Dolphin uses Nepomuk for part of it's functionality, particularly that involving tagging, etc. I suggest disabling the Information Sidebar if you are not going to use Nepomuk.

ah what bad behavior so i can't use video preview
before on kde 4.4 was so fast and nice ...

i would like got a nice file manager with video audio preview but not this silly semantic desktop i mean silly for old pc .. well mine is 2 years old :S

Assuming you disable Strigi, then you should have no performance problems what so ever with Nepomuk in KDE 4.5. Whilst I am already running what will eventually be 4.7, I experience no performance issues with anything related to it.

well now on system settings you should avoid nepomuck start service manager

Yes, I read the steps from the blog posting. Given that you have disabled Nepomuk by such means, it is unable to function at all, and thus Dolphin is unable to contact it, which may cause performance issues.

The only other know performance point you may wish to investigate is the D-Bus library as mentioned in other threads.
