I have a dual boot Debian system on two drives with the exact same setup or at least I thought. Just completed installing a second monitor and under the first system I can make changes to system settings for the dual monitors and everything functions as expected. However when I try to do the same on the second system my changes are not being accepted. Am I experiencing a permission's problem or something and if so where do I need to start looking?

KDE uses the randr framework provided by X to manage screens. This framework must be supported by your graphics driver in order for it to function.

Everything was setup and functions properly from my Debian, KDE "Stable" on drive one. However with the same setup Debian, KDE "Testing" on drive two will not accept the needed changes in KDE's system settings to get the monitors functioning like on drive one. Is there some kind of permission issue or something I may be missing? I just don't understand why the "I believe" same exact setup on both drives is causing this much problem. :-\

If you create a new user on the system which isn't working, are you able to configure it successfully? It could be a configuration file has gotten itself corrupt.

Appreciate your feedback and help, I fell over the answer to my problem when I renamed my .kde and .Xauthority files. Then restarted KDE which gave me new files that I could configure as needed and it all works now without a problem. ;D

Again thanks!
