KRunner not opening with alt+f2

Sat Jan 29, 2011 6:22 pm
Does anyone know why this would happen? When I push Alt+F2, nothing happens (except in Konsole where it types 'Q'). I looked in the global shortcuts and the shortcut is set properly... any ideas?

Do other global shortcuts work correctly?

Check in systemsettings that it is set, in shortcuts and gestures, global shortcuts, krunner section. Try to reset it even if it is, the systemsettings module will check for conflicts.

I confirm the same behavior in my KDE4.4 (Mandriva 2010.2). Sometimes, rarely, in the middle of work KRunner stops appearing by Alt-F2. No crashes or anything else precedes this event.

In .xsession-errors I see:
Code: Select all
kglobalaccel(3903) KGlobalAccelImpl::x11Event: Got XKeyPress event
kglobalaccel(3903) GlobalShortcutsRegistry::keyPressed: "Alt+F2" = "Run Command"
knotify(3906) KNotify::event: 792  ref= 0
kglobalaccel(3903) KGlobalAccelImpl::x11Event: Got XKeyPress event
kglobalaccel(3903) GlobalShortcutsRegistry::keyPressed: "Alt+F2" = "Run Command"
knotify(3906) KNotify::event: 793  ref= 0

So, global shortcuts are working, but when I press Alt-F2 KRunner is not shown

If I type krunner in Konsole, nothing happens, it just hangs:
Code: Select all
$ krunner
Connecting to deprecated signal QDBusConnectionInterface::serviceOwnerChanged(QString,QString,QString)

Restarting of KDE repairs KRunner, but it's not a solution I suppose
