I've looked all over to find a way to change this but can't seem to find a way to switch it off.
Does anyone know how to stop the scrolly thing happening whenever I middle click in Konqueror. I know there is the Settings > Configure Konq > Web Behaviour > Middle button opens URL, but then that causes the even more annoying "jump to random location at the highlighted text even though all I wanted to do was copy that bit of text command". Grrr. I'm doing a lot of copying to textarea boxes. I love Konqueror to bits but this is now getting really **** annoying. I can't believe with all of the varied customisations options available I can't switch these two annoyances off forever? Any ideas would be much appreciated. I'm using KDE 3.5.10. Thanks. |

Or being able to put this behaviour on a modifier would work for me, eg CTRL+mouse button much like the really useful ALT+mouse button behaviour to move and resize windows.
Anyone know if this is possible? Thanks. |

I don't think mouse mapping (remapping) is a well supported activity in Linux but there are a couple of apps that might help you
imwheel http://imwheel.sourceforge.net/ btnx http://lifehacker.com/384698/btnx-custo ... -for-linux xbindkeys combined with xmacroplay http://fixunix.com/x/19649-using-xmacro-xbindkeys.html |

Thanks for the reply.
I don't believe remapping is the solution. The problem as I see it is the middle mouse button behaviour in Konqueror has two combined functions and the preferences only lets you choose from two sets of behaviours. (1) Paste the previously highlighted text into the text box under the mouse pointer and if it's not a click in text box or is a click inside a textarea enable the browser scrolly thing. Or, (2) Paste the previously highlighted text into the text box under the mouse pointer and if it's not a click inside a text box jump to that URL as though it were typed into the address bar of the browser. The "Paste the previously highlighted text into the text box under the mouse pointer" is all the behaviour I want. The scrolly thing and the jump to url I don't. I'm sure both functions have their place but if I slightly miss the text box when clicking then it gets really annoying really quickly. It appears that the Konqueror preferences only allow you to choose one or the other. There simply appears to be no way to turn both secondary behaviours off. Which is why I'm asking the question if anyone knows a way to disable them or move them to activate only with a modifier or something... Debian is stuck with KDE3 at the moment so this might have already been addressed in KDE4? Or should this be submitted as a product suggestion? Thanks. |

probably a product suggestion as this doesn't appear changed in 4.x, but you should check bugs.kde.org to see if it's already been requested
