Power Management Problem - KDE 4.6

Wed Feb 02, 2011 1:12 pm
I'm having a problem with power management in KDE 4.6 (since Beta and now with Final). I'm not sure if I'm missing a setting or what. I'm using Kubuntu and find the problem with Kubuntu 10.10 and 11.04 Alpha 1. The same problem persists on 3 desktop systems and my laptop.

I have checked all the settings in System Settings under Power Management, but can't seem to find what to do. After a period of idle time, my monitor goes to sleep and I have to move the mouse to wake it up. I am trying to shut that feature off, so the monitor stays awake. I have unchecked the boxes under Performance for Screen Energy Savings, Dim Display and Display Brightness. That doesn't resolve it. At this point, the only thing I can do is set Screen Energy Savings and Dim Display settings to 360 minutes, which keeps the monitors from sleeping for a longer period of time. I have the Screensavers set to "none." I have also tried to shut off Power Management, but that doesn't resolve it either.

Does anyone have an answer as to how I can stop this feature? I just want my monitors to stay awake and active, no matter how long the systems are on without activity. Any help would be appreciated, as I'm not sure if it's a bug, or if I'm missing some setting I need.

Thanks,
zenarcher

If you can reproduce this under a new user, please consider filing a bug report at bugs.kde.org.
I could not find a report for this at bugs.kde.org.

Right now, I'm reproducing it on three desktop systems and one laptop. I just wasn't sure if it might be a bug or a "feature." I posted queries on the Kubuntu forum and the Ubuntu forum, but received no responses, so thought I would try here. I'll give it a go as a bug report on KDE. Thanks!
