Klipper in KDE 4.5 is really awkward and slow. I would like to install klipper from KDE 3.5 instead, which worked really well.
How much of KDE 3 would I need to compile to get it to work? Klipper in KDE 4.5 is nearly unusable, as it takes 15-20 seconds for it to open its window after clicking in the task tray. This happens for me all the time on two separate machines. I've removed .kde without any improvement. One machine is a Core 2 Duo 2 GHz+ with 4 GB memory, and the other is a brand new Quad core Intel i5, also with 4 GB memory. Thanks. |

have you ever not had issues with klipper in kde 4.x?
what distribution are you running? version? what version of kdebase4-workspace? what version of kdebase4? if you 1) kill/stop klipper 2) run kdebugdialog and select only klipper (then close it) 3) restart klipper 4) click klipper tray 4) check ~/.xsession-errors - any usefull info? |

Fedora 14. Kdebase-workspace 4.5.5. Kdebase 4.5.5.
I'm not sure when I started having problems with klipper. The problem's been there for quite a while at least. I've been hoping for seeing it gone every upgrade of KDE. I only know that it wasn't there in KDE 3.5. I tried what you suggest, but I can't find klipper in the kdebugdialog list. There's lots and lots of things there, but using the search filter, there is no klipper there. |

weird - I definitely have klipper in my kdebugdialog list, no idea how/why things get listed there
only things I can suggest to try is look at your klipper config screen and maybe adjust some options - check "text selection only" and "ignore images" - clipboard history size set to 20 entries |

I found this Fedora thread on the problem but following it gave no solution
