openSUSE 11.3
KDE 4.6 Every time I change into my Music folder, I get heavy IO on my disk, causing Dolphin and Desktop not to respond until Dolphin crashes. In .xsession-errors I get klauncher(4978)/kio (KLauncher): SlavePool: No communication with slave. dolphin(1928)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig: dolphin(1928)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig: dolphin(1928)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig: dolphin(1928)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig: dolphin(1928)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig: dolphin(1928)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig: dolphin(1928)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig: dolphin(1928)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig: plasma-desktop(5007)/plasma StatusNotifierItemSource::refreshCallback: DBusMenu disabled for this application KCrash: Application 'dolphin' crashing... Starting from konsole I get: ds@morpheus:~> dolphin /media/Mucke dolphin(3081)/kdecore (KSycoca): Trying to open ksycoca from "/var/tmp/kdecache-ds/ksycoca4" ds@morpheus:~> dolphin(3081)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig: QPixmap::scaled: Pixmap is a null pixmap QPixmap::scaled: Pixmap is a null pixmap KCrash: Application 'dolphin' crashing... EDIT: Seems dolphin crashes on accessing external drives, like USB HDDs m0nk

During the time of high load, try checking using iotop/htop in Konsole which processes are using the systems resources.

Looks like R.I.P. of my HDD, I guess. Strange enough, because dolphin crashes during the attempt to access external /dev/sdb
