issue while moving icons

Tue Feb 08, 2011 6:38 pm
Hi everyone!
I have a problem realted to KDE version 4.4.5 which I run on Debian squeeze.
I do not have the propietary NVIDIA driver installed.(I use GeForce 8600 GTS)
The problem is that I can't move the system tray and other icons on the panel and when I try, sometimes the whole desktop gets redrawn and plasma widgets(I used analog clock) disappear from the desktop.
Any help is appreciated!

1) did icons ever move as expected? if so is there an identifiable event after which they didn't

2) you do know that to move icons you must first click the cashew at the right end of the panel?

3) are widgets locked? right click on the desktop does it say lock or unlock widgets?

3) if you create and login as a new user do icons move?

OpenSuse Leap 42.1 x64, Plasma 5.x

1. No. I can move one widget though by dragging it to the desktop then back to the panel. But when I want to to the same for the second, then the first one gets back to it's original location.

2. yes

3. No, they weren't/aren't

4. They behave exactly the same.

This time I've also got an error:
plasma-desktop: signal 11 (segmentation fault)

edit:

I also get bad rendering at times in konqueror, like some web pages tend to draw on the konqueror taskbar. I thought I list there the packages that I have installed on my box besides the core debian distribution(though I'm not sure wheter it's helpful): xserver-xorg-core, kdebase, kdm.
