Hallo I have a problem mounting a CD or a DVD in openSuSE 11.3 and KDE 4.4.4
I have been reading forum for a while, but I cannot figure out how to solve it, the only thing I know is a bug in KDE (or maybe not) So this is the fact: Yesterday I could mount (automatically mount) video DVDs and music CDs without problems and play it with VLC or other but I could not mount data CDs. To solve the problem I decided to install xine and lame library (as suggested from some posts). Now I cannot mount DVD and CD at all!. I have tried almost everything I read in posts with no success: Here is the result of some command that could clarify (to you hopefully) my problem:
I added a line in fstab but no success:
I edited the .fdi file in such a way:
Hope this will give you an idea.. Franco

This looks like a problem with your CD/DVD reader (i.e. hardware), at least from what the kernel log tells me.

I will try to install Ubuntu on the disk and see if the CD/DVD driver is working. Do you mean I need to buy a new driver?

That's a distinct possibility. It could also mean that the laser lens is dirty and needs just some cleaning, though.
