How do you save session

Sat Mar 05, 2011 7:35 pm
Some how KDE saved a session on me. It has a few apps (like gnome-terminal) coming up and I want to stop it.

I've tried going to the session-manager and checking save last session, open manually saved you name it. No combination is working.

Any ideas on how to save my current session manually? Can't seem to find a button for that. Also any ideas where these applications are starting from? I check the KDE Autostart but it's not listed there.

I'm running Fedora 15 - rawhide/KDE 4.6 (if it helps)

there's multiple folders that may contain apps that autostart - I found this once, somewhere:
The following folders are all checked for .desktop files:
~/[.kde4|.kde]/Autostart
~/[.kde4|.kde]/share/autostart
~/.config/autostart
~/.local/share/autostart
~/Desktop/autostart
/etc/xdg/autostart
/usr/share/autostart

"restore manually saved session" should, I believe, save the session as it is when checked and applied and bring it up when you restart KDE

If you choose manually saved session, you can save it from e.g. the application launcher (Kickoff).

I ended up switching to Gnome 3 for a while (try to give both a fair trial) Seems when I exited Gnome 3 with no applications open all those pesky applications in KDE disappeared.

Thanks for all the suggestions though. I'll keep it in mind if something goes wonky again.
