Okay, this is kind of a wierd problem. I've got a virtual desktop setup for my wife's use on my machine, and she uses Firefox (nobody's perfect) and keeps an icon for it on the desktop. She was monkeying with the resize handle trying to see how big she could make the icon, and it disappeared off the edge of her desktop. I couldn't find it on any of the others, so I created a new one for her and forgot about it... until I activated the widget dashboard on Desktop 5 and got this:

ftp://genekodadek@genek.net/LinuxAdventures/wtf.png

It only appears when the dashboard is displayed. How the hell do i get rid of this thing?!

I get a dialog asking for a username and password. So I can't view the image.

When you enter the dashboard, you should simply be able to right click on it and select remove. The dashboard could be locked though, so make sure to unlock it by right clicking in blank space.

Wierd... I just checked the permissions; you should be able to view it... try this:

With the widgets unlocked I get configuration handles for all of the other widgets on that desktop, and right-clicking on those widgets produces a context menu. I get no configuration handle or context menu for that icon... but it opens firefox when i left-click on it. Wierd, huh? Once again, it only shows up in the dashboard.

Even wierder... I experimented with clicking on that part of the desktop with the dashboard closed. Even though I can't see the icon it still opens Firefox when I click in that area of the desktop, but once again right-clicking just gives me the desktop context menu.

You may wish to edit the Plasma configuration by hand here, find the Firefox icon applet which is causing the issue and delete it. You will need to quit Plasma (kquitapp plasma-desktop) first though.

Actually, I was just about to post on this: I'm completely redoing my desktops using the new gridding/grouping functionality (that's some really useful stuff, even though there's some stuff regarding the grouping panel that I don't get), so i just wiped the entire widget configuration for that desktop and started off clean.
