Hi forum,
I have problems using KDE (on linux) with a projector: Most seriously, when I connect a projector, and configure it with the projector screen above my monitor, it does not get configured like that, rather my monitor resolution is adjusted to be the same as the projector. This gets really bad when disconnecting the projector, my monitor is not reset to the correct size, even if i ask for it. Does anybody else experience similar problems? Another thing is that I wonder why I have to fight that configuration widget all the time. Why can't KDE not just autodetect the projector and use it, like mac or windows systems? On most other systems, you just have to enable teh extra screen output, and that is it. Finally, I would love to be able to have full screen windows placed on the monitor, while keeping an other window on the monitor, eg a presentation note view. Is that possible with KDE/Linux? And how? My graphics card is a intel 945GM, according to lspci. |

Yes - but this aspect has improved with every release; the automatic resizing to the projector monitor came, I think, with 4.4.4 and all I normally have to do is adjust the length of the panel at the end of the session and everything goes back to normal without any further intervention from me. It may not be perfect yet but it is a lot better than what I see on other people's computers.

John, thanks for answering
![]() I will try to find an opportunity to experiment a bit, so I can find a good setup. And I agree it is improving, very much indeed ![]() |
