KDED4: update makes things worse

Wed Apr 06, 2011 3:11 pm
I just updated to 4.6.2, filled with hope... and got terribly disappointed :(
Before, kded4 had some hicks since I updated the networkmanagement plasma applet. Sometimes at startup it remained unresponsive using 100%cpu. I usually killed it and restarted it manually and it was ok.
But now, it always starts up using 100% cpu and when I kill it and it fails to restart telling me the following:
Code: Select all
kded4: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/ntrack/modules/ntrack-libnl1.so: undefined symbol: ntrack_list_insert_sorted
kded(2416): Communication problem with  "kded" , it probably crashed.
Error message was:  "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown" : " "The name org.kde.kded was not provided by any .service files" "

Any ideas?
I usually don't complain and I really love kde, but there hasn't been a perfect update for a long time now.

Ntrack, the package which caused this behaviour, just got an update in ArchLinux Repo. So, "pacman -Syu", problem solved.

Your distribution had shipped defective packages, namely Ntrack, as karoshi notes. Updating should resolve the startup issues, although may not entirely fix the high CPU usage issue if it is caused by another module.
