Cant boot to KDE from run level 5

Mon Apr 18, 2011 3:29 pm
Cant boot KDE
I am using Fedora 14. After last updating KDE I can no longer boot to KDE unless it is from run-level 3.
If I use run-level 5 it will only boot to Gnome.
If I use su -c 'kdm' I get the message 'kde no longer valid'(sometimes), but the greeter will let me choose KDE.
I have been using KDE since version 1.1 and have never had any problems.
Switchdesk has no effect.
Can you please help?

This turned out to be a non-kde fault.
The file /etc/sysconfig/desktop was missing.
Sorry to have thought kde was the culprit.
If any one else gets this error the fix is (as root) touch /etc/sysconfig/desktop edit desktop to read DISPLAYMANAGER=KDE and chmod 664 /etc/sysconfig/desktop.
Now I get the KDE greeter!
Thanks for your help and suggestions.
