Hi,
As a solution for nVidia Optimus laptops, we found a way. We have to launch "optirun <app>" to launch the app with the nvidia card. The other way is to create a KDM session, which run /usr/bin/vglrun -d :1 /usr/bin/startkde so all apps will be launched with nVidia card. BUT , using this way (or the other one actually...), KDE doesn't have fancy effects ![]() Is there a way to enable it ? |

Are you using the latest version of Bumblebee or an older version? I know some problems have been reported trying to get KWin to use the nVidia card on those laptops (possibly due to incorrect screen information)

Hi,
I'm using git-20110519 of bumblebee. Arch distribution, arnaldo.coelho's package . The 3D accelerated server is launch on :1 display. As I said, I use usr/bin/vglrun -d :1 /usr/bin/startkde to launch KDE . IMHO, kdm is launch on :0 display, and then KDE launched on :1 display. So we have to launch KWin on :1 , else it will be launched on :0 (non-nVidia display) |

As long as DISPLAY=:1 then KWin should use that display... in theory anyway.
Try enabling debug areas using "kdebugdialog" then running KWin as follows:
