[img]file:///home/rengasami/Documents/snapshot1.png[/img]Hi All[img]file:///home/rengasami/Documents/snapshot2.png[/img]
I am pretty new to Kubuntu. Suddenly for lot of applications installed the text is coming as rectangular boxes. For example URL in my chromium where I am working now shows as rectangula boxes instead of text. I am unable to work on any application now. Can someone please help me in getting rid of this? I am totally puzzled on how to get this sorted ![]()

it's a problem (probably) with your fonts
it was ok until something changed? is it all apps? kde apps? non-kde apps? if only non-kde apps go to systemsettings -> application appeaarance -> gtk style and fonts and click "use my kde fonts ...", then 'apply' if all apps: if you go to systemsettings -> application appeaarance -> fonts and then click "defaults", then "apply" does it help? probaly need to restart the apps for either to take affect |

Hi Both, Thanks for your reply. I have attached the screenshot of the problem. Till now I noticed the problem with chromium browser and eclipse IDE. Both I have installed from KpackageKit. I have attached snapshots to the post as well
@Google01103 : I have tried both the options u mentioned still know use. In fact those were the same settings as you mentioned (it was in defaults alone) ![]() file:///home/rengasami/Documents/snapshot2.png In addition to the info I also see the below info from System logs 2011-06-05 12:46:51 rengasami-N4010 kdm_greet[1030] Cannot load /usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/faces/.default.face: No such file or directory Not sure whether it helps

to share an image on the forum you need to upload the picture (jpg, png) to an image sharing site and the post the link on the forum. I use simplest-image-hosting.net (there of course are others). Once posted on simplest-image-hosting.net if you click on the "Share this image" link on the bottom right of the image you can get the thumbnail BBcode code so that your forum post will display a thumbnail picture as well as the link to the full size picture.
see http://simplest-image-hosting.net/png-0 ... 605-063808 posting image example: ![]() |

Did you do any upgrades yesterday? if it started yesterday there must be an event that triggered this.
only thing I can can think of is to create a new user and login as it to see if the problem is your config or system wide |

There was nothing which I upgraded deliberately. I tried creating a new user. But when I login into that user, its asking me to change the pwd but in change password screen whatever I am typing is not coming
