We're using Debian lenny and KDE 3.5 here in our org. And we have setup a poor mans terminal server for our windows users to view several data display apps.
When they're connected to this box, they have no need for accessing any newly inserted peripherals (usb/dvd/whatever). The workstation is also used by local users, so if someone hasn't connected to their vnc session in a few days, they often will have 5-10 waiting usb mount requests. This is just normal day to day use by the local users. Is there a way to limit what users get prompted by the automounting feature in kde? I'd like the locally logged on users to have prompts, while those connected through vnc to not have them. On the surface, removing from plugdev would kind of make sense, but the prompt just pops up and then you get permission errors anyways. Is there a setting or remote only group definition I can use to limit these pop ups? Thanks! |

Kiosk can probably help you here. Users can have certain profiles applied to them depending on their group, so it should be workable for remote users to be a in a "remote" group, which has a restriction applied to disable that functionality.
Whilst I don't know if such a restriction exists, it may be worth a shot.
