Plugin a monitor.

Wed Jul 27, 2011 9:41 am
Hi,

I've installed the latest beta (4.6.95) on my fresh LinuxFromScratch installation.

To my suprise it handled the plugin of an extra monitor (almost) correctly, by offering me a dialog how to position it.

Very very nice!!

I've configured that my second monitor (which is physically left of my first "main" monitor) also is handled that way: left of first.

Only when I logout it comes up again with "clone", and I have to reconfigure it again.

Futher I see that when everything is set as I want, everything especially Kwin handles it like it should. Turning of the screen (Ctrl F11) for example works very good.

Futher I'm installing it on my new LFS machine. Maybe a good idea to let me write the build instructions on KDE Techbase? The recent buildinstructions are not up to date and not so well written, as I may say so.

KDE Techbase is a wiki, only an account is needed to make changes there (this measure is required unfortunately to keep the spammers at bay).

Do you have KRandRTray running on login? If you set it to run on startup, are the settings applied?

Yes. thanks, it's running, but still I have to adjust after every login.
That's not a big problem, but not like it's intended to be.
