Following the instruction here, I updated my Kubuntu 11.04 installation to KDE SC 4.7 through the Kubuntu repositories just a few hours ago.

Now I'm seeing the following: http://alexandervanloon.nl/bug_dolphin_kdesc47.jpeg

The following issues can be seen:
  • Dolphin isn't using the new simplified user interface as seen on the screenshots for the 4.7 release.
  • The new iconset isn't used completely. The icon for the home dir in the left sidebar is the new version, but all the other directory icons use the old version.
  • Long before I updated to KDE SC 4.7 I updated the Chromium version to a development version through the Ubuntu repositories (personal package archives). The Chromium icon in the task bar remained unchanged and is the old version, but in the K Menu the new version of the icon is used.

Is this a bug in KDE, or is this problem Kubuntu specific? I wasn't sure so I posted here first.

1) I would think to see the new simplified Dolphin interface you'd need to move/rename the Dolphin rc file
mv ~/.kde[4]/share/config/dolphinrc ~/.kde[4]/share/config/dolphinrc-old

2) not for me, I'm using new icon set. Try removing the cache-*.site and temp-*.site in ~/.kde dirs, probably should remove them with KDE closed

3) again not for me, try removing the Chromium icon and re-adding it

edited to fix local of dolphinrc

To use the new icons, change to a another icon set, then change back.

That should solve it.

Thank you google01103 and tatewaki. Removing the cache and temp directories in the .kde directory wasn't necessary as the other two solutions were sufficient. I did have to modify the command to move and rename the dolphinrc file though, because I do not have a .kde4 directory somehow.

Alexander you don't have ~/.kde4 because some distros use that (openSuse) and others use ~/.kde (Kubuntu) to hold the KDE files and I mistyped my response - the "4" was supposed to be removed but obviously wasn't
