Hello there!
It's quite a while that I was using KDE 3.5 and it was very good. I've always been using Kubuntu as it's very simple and it suits my needs. Now I have upgraded my hardware and I've decided to make a big upgrade to my Kubuntu, with a clean install. I've successfully installed Kubuntu 11.04 and it's very eye-catching! My congratulations for the beautifulest graphics I've ever seen! I've reinstalled all my programs now, configured them as well. Although, there's only one thing I cannot get used to: The folder view desktop. I don't like that I have to always work with that kind of windows to put my files. I always have to move them around and search through panel views to get my desktop panel and then manage files... it's very painful. I always use a lot of files every day, and I first put them on the desktop, modify them very often, then move them in their proper folder when they're ready for. If you're asking yourself, yes, I've already read the online FAQ and I know that you did a big effort to make this new KDE. But it's very painful and unusable, and I cannot get used to it. That's why I'd like to ask you: is there a way to get back the good old desktop, so I don't have to use panel views? I don't care if I won't get many of the plasma features, like folder views or whatever it may require to remove, but I really want my desktop back. If not, a friend told me of an old version of KDE 4 that wasn't using folder views, I think it was KDE 4.0; How may I install this KDE version? Thank you in advance for your help, Mario EDIT Sorry. When I said Panel View I meant Folder View. |

How to get the traditional desktop in Plasma Desktop 4.5. (It differs a little in the 4.6 version).
connect(post, SIGNAL(readSignature()), qapp, SLOT(quit()));

p.s. It didn't work until I restarted Kubuntu, but it seems there's no problem anymore ![]() |
