BUG? Taskbar floating in the middle of the screen

Hello,

I'm running kde 4.6.5 and I've been experiencing this problem where the task bar will randomly end up in the middle of the screen (see screen shot http://www.people.fas.harvard.edu/~gmalecha/kde-bug-x.jpg). Usually it will appear there and then after I mouse off of it it might move back up to the top (where it should be), but it is pretty inconsistent about it.

Is this a bug? Has anyone seen this before and does anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks.

Very weird, haven't seen this before. Do you have an application trying to change the screen resolution, or a multi screen setup?

I occasionally plug a projector in, but that's it, I always use the KDE System Settings dialog to set things up with that. Should I post an xorg.conf file or something like that?

Thanks.

If you create a new user, and do not connect the projector under this user, does the bug occur there?

I have the same issue here... I'm using Kubuntu 11.10, and sometimes the [bug]taskbar just floats to the middle of screen[/bug].

When I pass the mouse over it (a few times), it goes back to left (original position), but after some time it get back to the middle...

Really annoying bug. :(

Any simple solutions? I'm really noob in Linux.

EDIT: I just realized that it gets aligned by the side of an application window (randomly, not any specific application).

Ok, I think I found a solution/explanation for this: :)

It seems, that the Panel is affected by the settings for the window behaviour.
Changing the "Placement"- Option in System Settings > Window Behavior > Window Behavior > Advanced > Placement to "Zero-Cornered" solves the problem for me. I tried the other options out and it effects the panel. If you choose "intelligent" for example my leftside-panel moves a bit further to the right everytime it unhides... not very "intelligent" after all...
Is there allready a bug-repport for this? i did not find one...

Please open a bug report indicating exactly the details to reproduce the problem. Not sure if it's a Plasma bug (workspace) or KWin (window manager).
