Hello,
if I want to log-off the KDE 4.7 session, the screen only dimes out, but the KDE session will not be killed. So I can't log-off from KDE. In KDE 4.6 it works very well. Can anybody help me? My system: KDE 4.7 on a Slackware-current system. I start the KDE session from console via startx. Thanks Ralf |

If I start a session from tty I also finish it with tty - just go back to the console and do a CTRL+C.

Ok, I can do this, but I think it should kill the Session, if I click on the command "Log-off". This is the behavior, that I know from earier releases of KDE. Can anybody tell me which command will be executed, if I click on this button?
Thanks, Ralf |

Regardless of how a KDE session was started, the Log off function should still work. To see what the issue is, try closing as many of your background applications as possible, as they may be blocking the log off.

Hi Guys,
The same problem here on the brand new openSUSE 12.1 with Restart / Shut down. Nothing happens... |

I'm seeing it too. It wasn't the case with the betas.

Previously on Suse 11.4, one of my computers required the root kpassword to log off (KDE 4.6). However, this was not true of 1 out of 3 of my suse computers. Couldn't figure out how to turn that bit off.
Now, on 12.1, sometimes it has required the root password but when I typed it in, nothing happend. However, it there are a few windows open, it seem to hide the root logout window so things only dim out. The only way to to preform a shutdown is to go into a terminal as root. Ken |
