Hi all,
I am using KDE 3.5.4-25.el5_4.1 Red Hat on Linux x86_64 RHEL. I noticed that when I open many shells on kconsole, some of the shells will simply vanish after a couple of days (sometime one day, other time one week). I have no clue how to track down what is causing the shells to vanish. Sometime the shell will vanish with no activity in the shell (no process running nothing).
Thanks for any hint

KDE 3.5.4 is quite old. As such it is probably not possible for such an old bug to be diagnosed. You could try updating to KDE 3.5.10 to see if that fixes the issue.

Unfortunately this is a corporate Linux installation and I do not have admin access. Our IT dept. is pretty reluctant to change anything to a system they consider stable.
Thanks

can you install a alternative console app? Yakuake, Terminator, Gterminal, Guake, etc ........

Have others at your site experienced the same? maybe it's something limited to your config (no idea what). have you checked the RH forums?

Yes other users have experience the same behavior. Unfortunately as a user we are not allowed to install anything. I think I will check RH forums to see if I get some hint there.
