Ubuntu 11.04 with KDE 4.6.2
I find that Dolphin that launched from my user is using notification area to show copying progress. But Dolphin launched from "root" show classic copying window. I like this classic progress window. How to enable it for my user? Thanks! |

It is only shown for your user because, as far as I can understand, the KDE session can access components like the local DBus session, which is not present for the root user. I don't know if this is a bug, or working as intended, however.

Right click on the (i) icon -> Notifications Settings -> uncheck "File transfers and other jobs". Unfortunately it doesn't work for me in 4.7.1 (the window doesn't show up), don't know if it's a bug.
EDIT: OP noticed that you must restart Plasma Desktop (e.g. logout and login again) after unchecking the checkbox.

you could try removing the notifications widget in the system tray, I thought that used to do it but it does not in 4.7.2
