Hello,
I have a problem with (auto)mounting local disks/partitions in Dolphin, simply - I can't see them in "Places" panel. I can see removable drives there. If I manually mount local partition I can't see it either in Places. What may be the cause of this? How can I diagnose the problem? The only thing I checked are the permissions. I'm using Dolphin 1.7, KDE ver 4.7.1 on Kubuntu (installed on top of Ubuntu). Thanks, Lukasz. |

Places are like bookmarks, other than the defaults, they must be added to be seen

I can't create a link to my local drive/partition to have them in Places - they do not exits.
Is it possible that Gnome's VFS "intercepts" drives? Here's a screenshot of things I see: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1706754/dolphin-no-disks.png Lukasz. |

what if you, in Dolphin, right click in places and check "show all entries"? note: for me this shows but then disappears once any one is clicked
are these internally attached drives? if so are they mounted in /etc/fstab and if mounted why not create a places entry using the mount point? if not mounted and internally attached why not mount them in /etc/fstab? |

There are no hidden entries, there's no such menu entry. They are not mounted "internally" (no entry in fstab), why? I thought the proper way is to let KDE (or any other subsystem) to manage disks mounts/unmounts. Another thing - it works somewhere else, and doesn't work for me = something's wrong and I should correct it. I guess I'll end up adding an entry in fstab file. Anyway thanks for help ![]() Lukasz. |
