Dolphin Takes Too Long to Start

Wed Oct 19, 2011 3:42 am
Dear all,
I encounter a strange behavior from Dolphin, intermittently it takes a long time to start just after KDE login. I don't remember if I changed anything on the OS (I'm using Linux 2.6.29.6 Slackware 13.0 64) or KDE itself.

The problem sometimes occurs when I kick Dolphin from user environment, but didn't when I kick it from root (using kdesu). So after root-environment Dolphin is up, eventually the user-environment Dolphin shows up.

How can I troubleshoot this? Is there any logfile that I can take a look at? I'm using KDE 4.2.4

Best regards,

How long is "a long time"?

You may see some helpful messages if you run it in Konsole. First close all Dolphin windows. Then open Konsole and execute: `dolphin --nofork`.

connect(post, SIGNAL(readSignature()), qapp, SLOT(quit()));

hi, I got this:
Code: Select all
bash-3.1$ "/usr/bin/dolphin(4679)" Error in thread 139941332670304 : "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply - Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."

It takes around 20 minutes to bring it out.....

Where to go from here?
