I have tried the Amarok model, with no luck!
Can anyone tell me /point to a HOWTO?

I am suspicious of the option field in kcm_akonadi:
Code: Select all
UNIX_SOCKET=/home/<username>/.local/share/akonadi/socket-<machinename>/mysql.socket

Thanks Einar,

Spot-on - just what I'm looking for.

I'll give it a try soon. However, it doesn't look to be a million miles from what I have been doing! I suspecting some issues around mySQL passwords?

Seems that I can get things to work if I have null mySQL user passwords.

Great links, Einar - many thanks. ArchWiki did it for me :)
