A 'force quit' function/command?

Wed Oct 26, 2011 7:13 pm
I was used ot having the 'force quit' icon on my panel in Ubuntu and I imagine there is a KDE-specific command I can fit to a launcher? I haven't needed it yet but while I'm tinkering and discovering it might be useful...

Thanks.

Moved to Workspace.

You can use xkill (Ctrl+Alt+Escape by default I believe) - when the mouse cursor turns into a skull, click on a window to kill it. You can also end processes in System Activity (Ctrl+Escape).

As for an icon, you can make a .desktop file that starts xkill and then put it in your panel.

I really think that it is very important to have that force quite command like the quit command on the mac computers. Though it some times will get to you when you suddenly press it by accident. That means that whatever stuff you already have started after the point you have saved will be gone. Though it will be great to have a prompt but quite defeats the purpose of a force quite button.
