Firefox likes to crash

Mon Oct 31, 2011 7:23 am
After recently upgrading to 4.7.2 on Kubuntu 10.11 my FF 7.0.1 randomly crashes and throws me back to the login screen. I don't get this from chromium or rekonq.

This issue is hard to pinpoint as it happens sometimes when watching a video (NFL football) or simply clicking on a link within a site or from my bookmarks.

Has anyone else seen this behavior?

I don't think that a single application could bring an X server down (and not sure if it involves KDE), it's likely some other bug. Can you check Xorg.0.log.old (in /var/log) after a crash?

Errors :)
Also check dmesg, /var/log/messages and ~/.xsession-errors. Look for errors relating to display driver or xorg.

OKay, just crashed again. Don't have one of these:
~/.xsession-errors

Have attached the other files.

Someone over at Kubuntu suggested this was due to the intel graphic card. But I always thought the intel card was only used during boot and my amd card took over when KDE started up.

HP DV6 i7 core.

Okay, just got back from a trip.
Updated to kde4.7.3. still get FF crashing, sometime gimp as well.

Should have stayed with kde4.7.1 That was stable.

I am using the default graphic driver setup (supposing intel chip running, dont know how to check that)

I had a look at all the suggested files, can't really find anything axcept for some:
X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3
Major opcode: 20 (X_GetProperty)

and lots of these:
"" Soprano: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown - The name org.kde.nepomuk.services.nepomukstorage was not provided by any .service files"
"" Soprano: "QLocalSocket::connectToServer: Invalid name"

in .xsession

Nepomuk is very persistantly throwing errors at boot. Makes no difference if I ahve it activated or not.
But I guess that goes in another thread.

How can i attach theses files so i can send them along with a posting?

Could this have something to do with my intel/ati machine?

This is really bugging me.
