Window focus question

Sun Nov 13, 2011 5:08 pm
Is there a way to bring back a window on top (into focus) by dragging files from dolphin on the task of the another window in task manager panel? For example, in Windows 7 its possible to drag a file on another windowtask in task manager and the window for that program comes up and you could continue for example to drag and drop the files into it (like adding files by dragging them from a maximized explorer window to an archive).

I think Windows is checking if the left mouse button is pressed with something grabbed and then if you target a task from taskmanager by staying for 2 or more seconds on it, the window comes up.

Anything like that under KDE?

If I understood your question right, this has been possible in KDE3 and Plasma Workspaces for a long time. Which version do you use? I recall some users having problems with this feature in some previous versions. For me it seems to work fine in 4.7.2.

Tried it and it does work! ^-^

Odd thing is I dragged some files from dolphin onto taskmanager and targeted window came to front focus, but one file (KDE-Login-sound.ogg) would not work (not able to get a window into focus). An edited file (KDE-Login-sound-edit.ogg) right next to it would work as expected though, as did other file-types from the same folder?
