KDE Shutdown Option Missing

Sun Dec 11, 2011 8:19 pm
Hello everyone! I am not sure where to start.
Not even sure if this topic goes here.
Here's the problem.
I had installed KDE on mu Ubuntu 11.04 installation, and it ran with no problem. Since Ubuntu had GDM as its default XDM manager, I kept it as the default manager. Oddly enough, KDE had the Shutdown and Restart options available even if logged in with GDM.

The problem starts upon upgrading to Oneiric, which uses LightDM as its default manager.
I had noticed the KDE Shutdown and Restart options are gone if I log in with LightDM, but they reappear when switching back to the GDM or KDM managers.
Mostly for aesthetics, I would prefer LightDM to be my default manager (I'm not the only user, or else I would keep the other two managers).

Is there an option to bring these options back while still having LightDM?
Thank you in advance!

found this
.....Alex Fiestas has been working on some changes in KDE4.7 to make sure suspend, shutdown and user switching work still work whilst using lightDM. Making it a fully replaceable manager
at http://www.sharpley.org.uk/node/14 so it seems that it is a known issue, and no idea if the aforementioned work was finished and if so added to 4.7.x

would suggest you look/post on the Kubuntu forum as this is something *buntu centric (not sure other distros ship with lightDM as default)
