My KDE 4.7.3 on openSUSE 12.1 has lost its applications' menu and file associations somehow. Any tips on how to get them back?
Where can I find "Edit applications" other than via right clicking on the menu? When I do right click on the menu icon, it does not give me that choice. |

Can you try running

And the problem persists (also tried logging out and in again). |

I did a yast sw manager seatch using the "filename" option looking for "/etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu" and the file was found in the kdelibs4 & desktop-data-openSUSE rpms, so try reinstalling the 2 rpms
fyi - I did a locate for applications.menu and found >locate applications.menu /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu.kde /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu.kde4 /etc/xdg/menus/gnome-applications.menu /etc/xdg/menus/xfce-applications.menu /home/smiley/.config/menus/applications.menu /home/smiley/.config/menus/applications.menu.bak |

I noticed that updates had become available and upgraded KDE to 4.7.4, so kdelibs4 got reinstalled. That didn't resolve the problem. For applications.menu I found only this file: /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu.kde4
I didn't have desktop-data-openSUSE installed, so I installed it and after that I found also /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu (and tried even rebooting), but it didn't resolve the problem either. |
