I hope this is the correct place...

I'm usink Kubuntu 11.10, and I have recently upgraded to KDE 4.7.95 (which, from what I've read, is 4.8RC1). This changed some of my settings, and now I can't find how to restore the following behaviour.

My computer is dual-boot Windows XP-Kubuntu. This means, I have two "normal" ntfs partitions, one "recovery" FAT partition, one ext 4 root partition, and one external ext4 drive (which is automatically mounted during boot), and of course I can plug whatever USB device I need.
In the Device notifier options, I can only choose between "show removable drives", "show fixed drives" and "show all". But I can't find any "customize" option, and I'm sure some option like that was available somewhere in KDE 4.7, because I had managed to decide which devices I didn't want to see in that menu.
Even if I chose "show all", I still can't see the recovery partition. I don't really need that, but still I'd like to see it. BTW, I can't see it in Dolphin either, even with "show hidden devices" enabled, so perhaps that's another kind of problem.
On the other hand, I'd like to hide the root partition from the Device Manager (I'll never want to unmount THAT...), and also the ext4 external drive, but I'd still like to see the other fixed drives (I usually need to mount and unmount the NTFS partitions quite frequently).
How can I set that?
TIA for any help

I believe this may be an unintended regression due to a rewrite of the Device Notifier in QML, intended to make it smoother and fix layouting issues.

Have you filed a feature regression report at bugs.kde.org?

I will also try to catch the maintainer of the notifier on IRC and ask him about it.

Yes, in KDE 4.7 (I'm on 4.7.3), Device Notifier Settings has a category (or whatever you call the icons in the left panel) called "Automounting" and that leads to a section "Automounting" where you can change the on login / on attach behaviour for every device. I presume this is missing in 4.7.95?

If you are referring to the Automounting panel, that is available through System Settings as "Removable Devices".

No, I'm not refering to automounting; that does work.
I'm refering to the possibility to hide some devices from the device notifier menu and show others.

Apparently in the transition to QML this option was inadvertently not implemented. I've spoken with the maintainer, he'll try to put it back for 4.8 (no guarantees, though).

I can already say, unfortunately, that this won't be fixed for 4.8.0. There are more serious bugs (read: data loss bugs) that have more priority for the maintainer.
