[Solved]Issue with icon task bar

Mon Jan 09, 2012 11:40 am
I am trying to use the icon task bar with KDE 4.8 RC2 on Kubuntu 11.10. since smooth tasks is not compatible wit RC 2.

When I mouse over an icon on the bar I get a full screen preview as well as a small preview.

How can I turn off the full screen preview. It is not useful.

does this happen with a different user? does this happen if you use the standard task manager?

I can't reproduce this.

No, it doesn't happen with the standard taskbar, just the plasma_applet_icontasks. I am not very happy with the standard bar as it only shows icon with Text. I just need the icon.

Would it help to disable the highlight windows effect? I imagine that's what's generating those "previews"...

Great Thank you :) Didn't think of looking there as I never had that activated. Must have activated itself after upgrade to RC2.

Happy to help. I observed the same thing on my laptop (which runs the latest unstable release). So, I figured that's what you were referring to.

I just checked my (stable) desktop and the effect is actually on, perhaps by default, in 4.7. I'm guessing that due to the various bugfixes, it only started working properly in 4.8. :)

Yep, that could be the "culprit" ;)
