I was very fond of my kde until 2 hours ago! I wanted to extend the menu at this time so I right-clicked on K-Menu to do my changes. Unfortuately I hit "Remove K-Menu" and being in a hurry I confirmed.
So it was gone. And I tried to get it back. Googled. Checked various forums. Finally startet up my backup-disk and manually restoring the contents of .kde The whole situation cost me more than 1 hour. 1 hour of work I didn't want to spend on this ****.Who on earth had the idea that it might be a good idea to remove k-menu? And why is there no easy way to restore it?? This REALLY **** me off!! |

Are you talking about the 4.x series? In that case you can restore it like this. In KDE 3 there was a similar thing.
The KDE Workspaces are very flexible and allow you to customize your workspace exactly how you want to. For example, I have no use for a "start menu" so I've removed it. You can remove any item in the panel, and in 4.x you can even have a workspace without panels. To avoid removing items accidentally, I suggest that you lock your widgets (again, 4.x; there's a similar thing in 3.5.x).
