Why my kde 4.7.4 on gentoo, starts so long? kde 4.4.X starts much faster, the 4.7.4 hangs for while on spalsh screen about 8s., then appear icons: tools, planet etc...

Are there any references to timeouts and similar things in ~/.xsession-errors?

One thing you may wish to do is try and disable "Power Management" and "Removable Device Automounter" in System Settings > Startup and Shutdown > Service Manager - as some users have reported these two combined cause a slow down of ~5 seconds.

I was migrate to 4.8 both kde and QT, see to what happends...
Nothig new :(
