Hi:
I use KDE 4.8 with KUbuntu 11.11. GNOME is also installed on the computer. When I "slide" from one desktop to another the background image of my GNOME desktop appears. It's very fast but quite annoying. It does not happen when I use the "fade" or "cube" options to switch between desktops. Is there a way to fix that? Thanks! Martin |

I noticed that Gnome background sometimes used as well by GTK based applications with transparency. In general, to avoid this mismatch, just change the Gnome background to the same one you use in KDE. It should solve the issue (I'm not sure though why KDE animations should use it).
Depending on the Gnome version, there are different ways to do it. |

I seem to recall, from no idea where, it could be because Nautilus is running in the background. Maybe the nautilus-wallpaper package.
if not this then you could open ksysguard and search to see what Gnome apps are running that could be causing it |

Yes it's most likely Nautilus in the background, see e.g. viewtopic.php?f=67&t=98833.

Indeed, killing Nautilus seems to do the trick. Thanks! Martin
