Hi folks!
My first post in here and also in any KDE forum: yes i used to solve my problems by myself until now! here is my config where i encounter my problem:
KDE-3.5.4-3.el5 on multiple displays setup (usually 2 displays but can go up to 5 displays) using nvidia based graphic card ... and here is my problem: it is actually very simple to explain: i do have the first display (0:0) in french (which is what i need) but all the others displays are half in french half in english. For example the trash icon is called corbeille (which is actually the french word for trash) on display 0:0 BUT it is named trash on others displays... It is the same for contextual menu (french on 0:0 english on others displays) We do use a quite customized system so we may put the mess somewhere...(but there was no problem in RHEL48 settings, which was the same as the RHEL55 one. we perform installation using KS + post-installation scripts) So if someone has a clue of where to do something to get this as it is supposed (french everywhere) please tell me! Thanks a lot for your help. Pierre B. |

If you open a terminal (Konsole) on each display (:0.0 and :0.1) then run "echo $LANG" do the results match?

Thanks for helping me.
Yes it does give the same value (fr_FR.UTF-8), and the konsole menus are exactly the same (both in french)... I really don't get it... PS: This used to work flawlessly in RHel48... Pierre B. |

Is there any particular application which can reliably reproduce this, or does it affect all applications?

Hi Bcooksley,
No there is actually no application that allow me to reproduce this BECAUSE all application (so far) are OK, i mean they are in french. ONLY THE CONTEXTUAL MENU FROM THE DESKTOP AND THE DESKTOP ICON(s) are in english when they should be in french! (just like any others displays....) Thanks a lot for helping me. Pierre B. |

Okay. From what I can guess it is probable that some form of property that KDesktop needs to correctly determine the language on the other display is missing.
Unfortunately as KDesktop has been discontinued, all I can recommend is attempting to try under a new user - or trying successive newer / older versions (Self compiling may be required).
