Hi,
Whenever I try to add a program to the menu manually it fails. Even worse: If I change something in an existing menu entry that entry disappears from the menu after saving the changes. The new entry appears in the file ~/.config/menus/applications-kmenuedit.menu but not in the menu. kbuildsycoca4 --menutest also doesn't show the new or changed entries. Even when I edit an entry that has been created manually in the past and that resides in my ~/.local/share/applications folder that entry disappears from the menu. I already checked for file owner and permissions. everything is OK. I'm clueless. I am using Kubuntu 10.04 with KDE 4.6, 64 bit |

Now finally found the solution here viewtopic.php?f=66&t=97207&hilit=+menu+edit+missing
The Quintessence of that thread was:
For the lazy ones the two following commands removes the "OnlyShowIn=" lines in all of your "private" .desktop files.
